DISTRICT THREE, ONA LEGISLATION COMMITTEE IN ACTION
The Legislation Committee of District Three, ONA has an ongoing positive relationship with our local legislators. The members of the committee believe that open communications with our lawmakers will assure that the interests of patients and professional registered nurses will be heard before and when laws are being considered. As a result of the commitment by this committee to be engaged with Ohio Legislative players, they invited local legislators to be our guest at the annual banquet. The event took place during National Nurses Week on May 7, 2010 at the D.D. & Velma Davis Center in the Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park. Special guests in attendance included State Senators Capri Cafaro and Joseph Schiavoni and State Representative Ron Gerberry and Tom Letson. Proclamations were sent to honor our retirees from Congressmen Tim Ryan and Charlie Wilson. Joy Donathan, Representative from Congressman Wilson’s office was present to help showcase the retirees and their years of service in caring. Pictured are some of these special guests with our members, other special guests such as Rebecca M. Patton, MSN, RN, CNOR, ANA President and Mary Jean Schumann, MSN, RN, MBA,CPNP, ANA Chief Programs Officer, who served as the keynote speaker for the evening.
